Learning Joy

In the sunshine,
In the rain,
Up on the mountain,
Down in the plain,
In the comfort,
In the pain,
The saints- they all were joyful.

In the softness
of Mary's gaze,
In the ridicule,
In the praise,
Going forward,
Not counting cost,
All to seek
And save the lost,
You gladly suffered--
Bore Your Cross,
And You were joyful.

So how can I
Stay bitter still?
I must forget
The winter's chill
That, in my heart,
Can only kill
Any thought of loving truly.

I must press on,
But by Your grace,
And I will smile
To see Your face,
And I will laugh
And run this race
(Humility
Will set my pace).

And I will run
Into the Son,
And I will,
I will.
I will be joyful.
